SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's basketball team kicked off the 2024-25 season with a thrilling 76-71 victory at home against the visiting Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton College (Ohio). The Gray Wolves showcased a strong offensive performance, shooting 45% from the field (27-of-60).
From beyond the arc, Lourdes converted 28% of their three-point attempts, hitting 7-of-25. The team was particularly effective from the free-throw line, finishing the game with an impressive 83.3%, making 15-of-18 shots.
Individually, Shaunn Monroe was the standout performer, pouring in 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting, including three three-pointers. He also contributed significantly to the team's effort with four rebounds, four assists, one block, and two steals.
Defensively, Derell Jones made a significant impact, leading the team with 10 rebounds and two blocks while also adding 15 points to accompany Monroe's scoring output.
The victory also marked a special milestone for Interim Head Coach Jake DuPree, as he secured his first career win at the helm of the program.Â
