SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University women's soccer team topped the visiting Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University, 1-nil, Saturday, Oct. 5 at Wildcat Stadium. The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match improved Lourdes' league record to 4-1, good for fourth in the conference standings.Â
The first half saw junior
Cecily Hughes knock-in the game-winning goal with a little over five minutes left on the clock before halftime. The junior forced a strike to score her first collegiate goal with help from teammate
Sophia Larabee. Â
Following halftime, the Gray Wolves maintained a steady defensive plan, allowing just two shots on frame, which were both saved by senior goalkeeper
Emmy Roder, for yet another career clean sheet. Â

- Head Coach Jackie Phillip's (66-79-20) is 7-1-1 to start the season for the first time in program history, her best.Â
- Additionally, the win marked the seventh of the season, topping last season's six. It mark's the sixth season of seven-plus wins in the program's 10-year history.Â
- The win marked the fourth conference victory of the season. It also marks the sixth season in program history with four or more WHAC victories.Â
- Although playing primarily on defense, Hughes netted her first career goal in the win.Â
- In goal for the ninth time this season was Roger, who turned in her 32nd career clean sheet with the 1-nil win.Â
- Larabee's helper on the game-winning goal marked as the juniors first career assist.Â
