Men's Basketball Cruises to 84-71 Victory Over Rochester Christian

Monroe's 28 Points Lead the Gray Wolves to Their Seventh Straight Win

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's basketball team improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play on Tuesday evening, defeating Rochester Christian 84-71 at the Garth Pleasant Arena.

The Gray Wolves got off to a strong start, leading 36-27 at halftime. They maintained control throughout the second half, outscoring the Warriors 48-44 to seal the victory. Lourdes shot an impressive 48.3% from the field (28-of-58), including 39.1% from three-point range (9-of-23), and connected on 90.5% of their free throws (19-of-21).

Shaunn Monroe continued his strong play with a game-high 28 points, making 9-of-19 from the field and a perfect 9-of-9 from the free-throw line. This marked Monroe's sixth game of 28-plus points this season, as he has been a consistent offensive force for the Gray Wolves. Monroe's free-throw shooting performance added to his overall consistency, as he has shot over 85% from the line in five of the team's seven games. Monroe's performance came after a 31-point outing against Madonna on Saturday, where he also went 10-of-13 from the free-throw line.

Derek Fairley recorded his first double-digit scoring performance of the season with 14 points, hitting 5-of-6 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Fairley also grabbed seven rebounds, continuing to contribute in all areas.

Derrell Jones, who has now scored in double figures in all six games he has played this season, added 11 points, including 4-of-6 shooting, and contributed two rebounds in 17 minutes of play. Jones continues to be a reliable scoring option for the Gray Wolves.

Caden Kruse came off the bench to contribute a career-high 14 points, making 4-of-7 from three-point range. This was Kruse's first double-digit scoring game of his career, adding another spark to the Gray Wolves' offense.

Dasan Doucet chipped in seven points and three assists in 31 minutes, continuing his role as a playmaker and contributor to the team's success.

Defensively, Lourdes held Rochester Christian to 44.6% shooting (27-of-60) and out-rebounded them 31-22.
