WILBERFORCE, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) – The Lourdes University men's basketball team remained undefeated on the season, improving to 3-0 with a 74-61 victory over host Wilberforce University on Saturday, Nov. 10.
After a tightly contested first half, in which Lourdes held a narrow 30-28 lead, the Gray Wolves took control in the second half, outscoring Wilberforce 44-33 to secure the victory. Lourdes shot 75% (12-of-16) from the field in the second half, extending their lead to as much as 15 points late in the game.
Shaunn Monroe continued his stellar play, scoring 34 points on 10-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. This marked his third consecutive 30+ point performance. Monroe also grabbed five rebounds, blocked one shot, and hit several crucial baskets in the second half to help Lourdes pull away.
Derrell Jones added 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 2-of-4 from three-point range. Jones also contributed four rebounds and three assists. Adonus Abrams had a solid all-around game with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Derek Fairley and Prakash Ketterhagen each contributed key minutes off the bench.
The Gray Wolves shot 60.0% (30-of-50) from the field overall, 40.0% (12-of-17) from three-point range, and 68.0% (17-of-25) from the free-throw line. Lourdes also outrebounded Wilberforce 30-24 and recorded four steals and four blocks in the win.
