FORT WAYNE, Ind. (LourdesAthletics.com) – The Lourdes University men's soccer team's 2024 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championship Tournament run came to an end with a 2-1 loss to second-seeded Indiana Tech University Saturday, Nov. 9, in the semifinals at Warrior Stadium. The Gray Wolves, who entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed, fought hard but were unable to overcome the Warriors, who advanced to the finals with the win.
Indiana Tech took the lead in the 22nd minute and doubled their advantage just before halftime in the 37th minute. Lourdes kept pushing in the second half and pulled a goal back in the 84th minute when freshman Jack Pelton found the back of the net, cutting Indiana Tech's lead to 2-1. Despite several late chances, the Gray Wolves were unable to find the equalizer, and the Warriors held on for the win.
Senior goalkeeper Alex Brock had an impressive performance in goal, recording seven saves throughout the match to keep Lourdes in contention, but Indiana Tech's early goals ultimately proved too much for the Gray Wolves to overcome.
This semifinal appearance capped off a strong season for Lourdes, who finished with a 9-7-4 overall record and an 8-2-2 mark in the WHAC. It was the Gray Wolves' sixth-ever appearance in the WHAC Championship Tournament, and their first-ever run to the semifinals.
