SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- Lourdes University men's basketball delivered a commanding offensive performance Wednesday night, defeating Concordia University 108-70 at the Ebeid Recreation Center. The Gray Wolves set a season-high in scoring while earning their fifth Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) victory of the season to also remain undefeated at home.Â
The Gray Wolves took control early, shooting an exceptional 63.6% from the floor in the first half, including 57.1% from beyond the arc, to build a 52-40 halftime lead. Lourdes continued to dominate after the break, pouring in 56 points in the second half and extending their advantage to a game-high 38 points in the final minute. The team's accuracy from long range was pivotal, as they knocked down a season-best 16 three-pointers at a 50% clip. the 16 made three's mark the highest in a single game since the 2022-23Â season when the team knocked down 20 total., against Concordia. Â
Derek Fairley led the way with 20 points, connecting on six three-pointers while adding four assists. Joey Holifield provided a spark off the bench, contributing 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting, a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line, and eight rebounds. Shaunn Monroe added 16 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals, continuing his strong all-around play. Ross Thompson was flawless in limited action, going 5-for-5 from the field for 15 points in just eight minutes.
Lourdes dominated the game on multiple fronts, forcing 14 turnovers and converting them into 14 points, while their bench delivered 59 points in a deep and balanced effort. The Gray Wolves also controlled the boards, holding a 38-31 rebounding advantage.
The win moves Lourdes to 10-3 overall and 5-2 in WHAC play, keeping them firmly in the conference race. Concordia drops to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the league.
