No. 19 Indiana Tech Snaps Lourdes Win Streak

Lourdes saw its three-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon as 19th-ranked Indiana Tech pulled away from the Gray Wolves in the second half for a 71-47 victory inside the Schaefer Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.

"We wanted more effort and discipline today on the defensive end," head coach Tandy Bradford said afterwards.  "In order to close the scoring margin that Indiana Tech has had on everyone in the league you have to really execute your offense and defense at a high level, and we didn't do that today.  We did have players step up in their roles to keep us playing at where we want to be next week and that's the expectation."

A 13-0 first quarter run allowed the Warriors to open up a 21-8 lead after 10 minutes before the Gray Wolves battled back in the second.  The Gray Wolves went on a late 10-0 spurt of their own late in the half to pull within five before a late triple allowed Indiana Tech to take a 31-23 lead into the locker room.

Indiana Tech scored the first nine points of the third period to jumpstart a 17-2 run, pushing the lead to 23, 48-25, with 3:38 remaining in the stanza.  The Warriors would increase their advantage to as many as 32 in the fourth quarter before Lourdes finished the game on a 10-2 run over the final 3:45.

Winter Richburg (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers H.S.) led Lourdes with 14 points while Nadeen Jemaa (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) added 12 more off the bench as the Gray Wolves' reserves outscored Indiana Tech's bench 31-8 for the game.

Lourdes shot 31.6% from the floor and was 7-of-26 (26.9%) from three-point range while committing 15 turnovers.  Indiana Tech shot 48.5% from the field and turned the ball over just 10 times on the afternoon.  The Warriors outscored the Gray Wolves 46-20 in the paint.

Erika Foy led Indiana Tech (23-3, 20-0 WHAC) with 19 points and eight rebounds while Taylor Covington added 16 more to go along with six assists.

Lourdes (10-15, 8-12) will return home to the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center for the final time on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Rochester (Mich.).  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
