Lourdes saw its 2023-2024 campaign come to an end on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves dropped a 79-56 decision to Concordia (Mich.) inside Cardinal Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Gray Wolves started quickly, making four of their first five shots from the floor while building a 10-7 lead just over 3:30 into the contest. Concordia responded with a 13-0 run to take a 20-10 lead with 2:50 to play in the period, a lead the Cardinals would not relinquish. The lead grew to 11, 30-19, after the opening 10 minutes as Concordia shot 86.7% from the floor.Â
Macie Stringfellow (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) tried to keep the Gray Wolves close, scoring 15 points in the quarter on 6-of-7 shooting.

Concordia scored the first seven points in the second to increase the lead to 18 less than two minutes into the period. The Cardinals closed the quarter on a 10-1 run, holding Lourdes scoreless from the floor over the final 5:37 to take a 49-23 lead into the locker room. After shooting 57.1% from the field in the opening period, the Gray Wolves were limited to 1-of-12 (8.3%) in the second.

Lourdes scored the first basket out of the break only to see Concordia score seven of the next eight points to push the lead to 30 three minutes into the quarter. The two schools would trade baskets for over the next few minutes before the Cardinals closed the period on a 13-5 run to build a 75-40 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.

The Gray Wolves never quit, holding the Cardinals scoreless for more than five minutes to start the final stanza. Lourdes opened the quarter on an 11-0 spurt to pull within 24. Lourdes would not get closer than 23 the rest of the way though despite the Gray Wolves limiting Concordia to just four fourth quarter points.

Stringfellow led Lourdes with 20 points while leading the team with eight rebounds.Â
Shae Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) and
Emma Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) each scored eight points.

Abby Long led Concordia (20-9) with 19 points, 16 of which came in the first quarter, while grabbing seven rebounds. Jess Andrew came off the bench to add 16 points as four Cardinals finished the game in double figures.

Lourdes (12-16) ends its season with a school-record 12 victories on the year.
