Lourdes opened the home portion of its 2024 schedule in style on Sunday evening as the Gray Wolves defeated Midland 15-1 at Timberstone Junior High.
The Gray Wolves scored three times in the opening five minutes and added another three goals in the final five minutes of the second period on the way to building a 9-0 lead at intermission. After Midland (0-4) scored to open the third, Lourdes added three more tallies in each of the final two stanzas to earn the win.
Kalani Hale (Charleston, W. Va./Capital H.S.) scored five times and added three assists for an eight-point game while
Caden Louthan (Dripping Springs, Texas/Dripping Springs H.S.) and
Hayden Barber (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) each found the back of the cage three times. Louthan had three assists while Barber added a pair of helpers.
Garrett Boersma (Norco, Calif./Norco H.S.) also had a multi-goal game with two markers and an assist.
Xander Slate (Stockton, Calif./Saint Mary's H.S.) made six saves in the cage in just over 50 minutes of action.
Collin Brutlag (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) caused seven turnovers and picked up seven ground balls to lead the defense while Barber had a team-high eight ground balls.
Lourdes (2-1) will return to action on Tuesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves hosts Missouri Baptist. The opening faceoff is set for noon at Ottawa Hills High School.
