After dropping game one 6-3, Lourdes picked up its first win of the season on Thursday, defeating Bethel (Tenn.) 3-1 at Wildcat Park in McKenzie, Tenn.
In the opener, Bethel scored a run in the first before Lourdes answered in the second with a pair of runs to take the lead.
Jackson Kennedy (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game before
Caleb Edwards-Dugan (Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior H.S.) put the Gray Wolves in front with a RBI single.
After the Wildcats retook the lead with two in the third, Kennedy delivered a RBI double in the fourth, scoring
Cord Noble (Rockford, Mich./Rockford H.S.) with an earned run.
Bethel then plated three in the fifth which proved to be the game's final tallies.
Nick DiGennero (Oakville, Ont./St. Ignatius of Loyola) had two of Lourdes' seven hits in the opener.
Lourdes took a lead in the first of game two as
Alex Dupree (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) had a run-scoring single, plating
A.J. Brinson (Bloomington, Ind./South H.S.).
Bethel (18-3) tied the game in the third before a
Skylar Mays (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) put Lourdes in front for good with a double in the fourth. DiGennaro added a sacrifice fly in the fifth for a Gray wolf insurance run.
DuPree had two of Lourdes' six hits in the nightcap while
Garrett Zimmermann (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) pitched three innings, allowing one run on three hits for the win.
Jase Kennedy (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) pitched the seventh for the save.
Saturday's series-ending doubleheader has been cancelled due to weather but Lourdes (1-7) has added a doubleheader on Tuesday against Siena Heights. First pitch in game one is set for 4 p.m.
