Lourdes concluded its week at USSSA Space Coast in Melbourne, Fla. on Saturday, dropping a 4-0 decision to Dakota Wesleyan before falling 6-4 to New College of Florida.

The Gray Wolves were limited to just four hits in the opener. Dakota Wesleyan (11-10) took the lead with a run in the second inning and the game remained a one-run contest until the seventh.

Lourdes had chances in the final innings, loading the bases with two outs in the sixth but could not score. The Tigers added three insurance runs in the seventh before Lourdes put a pair of runners on in the bottom of the frame but again could not get the big hit.

Game two against New College of Florida (3-20) was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when the Fighting Banyans plated six runs, five of which were unearned to take the lead.

The Gray Wolves tried to battle back in the late innings. In the sixth,
Olivia Hickman (Trenton, Mich./Trenton H.S.) had a pinch-hit RBI single to plate Lourdes' first run before
Jessyca Smith (Pemberville, Ohio/Eastwood H.S.) drove home another run when she reached on a fielder's choice. Smith then scored on a wild pitch as Lourdes pulled within 6-3.

Lourdes would add another run in the seventh on a run-scoring single by
Robyn Ryan (Norton, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban H.S.) but that would be as close as the Gray Wolves would get.

Berlynn Keller (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Whiteford H.S.) and
Annalisse Palma (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview H.S.) each had two hits.

Lourdes (6-14) will have 13 days off before returning to the diamond to open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on March 22 as the Gray Wolves head to Grand Rapids, Mich. to battle Cornerstone. First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is set for 3:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Softball Field.
