No. 13 Lourdes falls at Indiana Tech in Regular Season Finale

Lourdes concluded its regular season on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 25-18, 25-18, 26-24 match to Indiana Tech inside the Schaefer Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.
 
"We did not play well against a team that was fighting for a position in the final standings," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "We will look to get to work to be able to defend our home court on Friday night."
 
The 13th-ranked Gray Wolves managed just four kills in the opening set on Saturday.  With the set tied at nine, the Warriors scored five of the next seven points to take the lead for good and build the early advantage in the match.
 
Set two saw Indiana Tech (24-5, 14-4 WHAC) hit .450 and used a late 4-1 run to pull away for their second straight set victory.  The Warriors never trailed in the third, despite eight ties in the stanza.  Lourdes pulled event at 22 after trailing 20-17 but were unable to pull in front as Indiana Tech completed the sweep.
 
Jaber Badarne (Arrabe, Israel/Hof Hasharon) led Lourdes with 11 kills and hit .556 while Eduardo Ayala (Curitiba, Brazil/Colegio Dom Bosco) added 10 kills.  Joey Bianco (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder H.S.) dished out 26 assists while leading the offense that hit .229 on the day.
 
Defensively, Brayden Moyars (McCordsville, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) picked up a match-high 10 digs for the Gray Wolves.
 
Mason Milan led Indiana Tech with 14 kills and hit .391 while Daynte Stewards added 11 kills and four blocks.  The Warriors hit .342 as a team for the match.
 
Lourdes (16-10, 16-12), the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular season champion, will host the semifinals and championship of the WHAC tournament next Friday and Saturday inside the Russel J. Ebeid Recreation Center.  The official tournament pairings will be announced later in the weekend by the league office.
