Lourdes began its final homestand of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 10-1 and 8-7 to Indiana Tech at Gray Wolf Field.
Indiana Tech jumped in front quickly in the opener, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first. Lourdes responded in the bottom of the frame as
Brooke Albert (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights H.S.) doubled to lead off and scored two batters later on a two-bagger by
Lindsey McGann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson H.S.).
The Warriors would add two more runs in the second before plating six in the third, capped by a pinch-hit grand slam off the bat of Jayme Konig.
Lourdes finished game one with just three hits, all in the opening inning.
In game two it was the Gray Wolves that took the lead with two runs in the first.
Emily Wallace (Thornville, Ohio/Lakewood H.S.) singled home the game's first run before scoring on a double by
Annalisse Palma (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview H.S.). Albert added an RBI hit in the second before scoring on an error giving Lourdes a 4-0 lead after two innings.
Indiana Tech (25-10, 7-5 WHAC) tied the game with four runs in the top of the third, only for Lourdes to bounce back with three of its own in the bottom of the frame.
Olivia Hickman (Trenton, Mich./Trenton H.S.) plated Wallace with a double before
Megan Richardson (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) had a two-base hit of her own late in the inning to score two more runs, giving the Gray Wolves a 7-4 lead.
The Warriors answered with four runs in the top of the fifth, taking the lead on a squeeze bunt. Lourdes was unable to tie the game in the late innings, managing just one hit over the final four.
Lourdes (11-23, 5-9) remains home on Sunday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Cleary. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Gray Wolf Field with Senior Day activities taking place prior to the contest.
