After a tight opening quarter, ninth-ranked Indiana Tech broke the game open in the second and third periods on the way to a 22-5 victory over Lourdes on Saturday afternoon at Ottawa Hills High School.
The Warriors struck first less than five minutes into the game before Lourdes evened the score just 14 seconds later on a
Garrett Boersma (Norco, Calif./Norco H.S.) goal. Boersma put the Gray Wolves in front at the 6:47 mark with his second consecutive tally.
Indiana Tech responded with the next four goals before
Kalani Hale (Charleston, W. Va./Capital H.S.) made it a 5-3 contest with two ticks remaining in the opening quarter.
The visitors would score the next 15 goals of the game, including six before halftime to make it an 11-3 advantage at the break. After Indiana Tech tallied nine more in the third, Boersma found the back of the net for the third time late in the period.
The Warriors would score twice more in the fourth before
Caden Louthan (Dripping Springs, Texas/Dripping Springs H.S.) closed out the scoring midway through the final stanza.
Indiana Tech (4-4, 3-1 WHAC) outshot Lourdes 51-16 on the afternoon with Josh Bramley tallying a team-high six goals.
Dique Reid (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East H.S.) picked up a team-high 10 ground balls while winning 14 of the 23 faceoffs in which he took.
Jack Durham (Zeeland, Mich./East H.S.) added five ground balls.
Lourdes (3-5, 0-4) takes to the road on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves face Concordia (Mich.). The opening faceoff is set for noon at Cardinal Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.
