Lourdes wrapped up its six-game homestand on Sunday afternoon, dropping both ends of a doubleheader against Lawrence Tech by scores of 12-2 and 12-1 at Gray Wolf Field.
The Gray Wolves struck first in the opening inning of game one as
Lindsey McGann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson H.S.) delivered a run-scoring single to plate
Brooke Albert (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights H.S.) and
Emily Wallace (Thornville, Ohio/Lakewood H.S.) followed with a sacrifice fly that scored
Megan Richardson (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) to give Lourdes a 2-0 lead.
That would be all the offense for the Gray Wolves in the game though, as Lawrence Tech would score in each of the next six innings, including multiple runs in five of the frames. Lourdes managed just two hits the rest of the way.
Richardson went 2-for-3 in the opener as Lourdes tallied five hits for the contest.
In game two, Lawrence Tech (18-17, 7-3 WHAC) scored two runs in both the second and third innings to build a 4-0 lead. The Gray Wolves plated their lone run in the bottom of the fourth as
Annalisse Palma (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview H.S.) doubled home McGann.
The Blue Devils would tack on four more runs in both the fifth and seventh frames to close out the win.
Palma had two of the Gray Wolves' four hits in the nightcap, both of which were doubles.
Lourdes (9-21, 3-7) takes to the road on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves head to Adrian, Mich. for a doubleheader against Siena Heights. The first pitch in game one is set for 3:30 p.m. at Christensen Field.
