Lourdes remains undefeated while picking up first conference win

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- In a blink of an eye, the Lourdes University women's soccer team secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opponent Rochester Christian University, with all three goals hitting the back of the net in a dramatic three-minute span late in the match.

The second stanza was a defensive battle up until the near 78th minute when freshman Payton Childers gave the Gray Wolves a 1-0 advantage with help from rookie Rachel Nelson. The host Warriors were quick to respond, scoring the first allowed goal of the season for Lourdes, knotting the score 1-1.

Two minutes later, sophomore Kayden Firsdon secured the game-winning goal, her second of the season, with a strike in the near 80th minute. Nelson was there for the help, earning her second assist of the night.

Defensively, senior Emmy Rodger faced a total of five shots on frame, saving all but one. The veteran holds a 4-0-1 record on the season.
