ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com)Â --Â In a blink of an eye, the Lourdes University women's soccer team secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opponent Rochester Christian University, with all three goals hitting the back of the net in a dramatic three-minute span late in the match.Â

The first half was scoreless with Lourdes posting eight shots, four of which were on frame, to the opposing seven with three on goal.Â
The second stanza was a defensive battle up until the near 78th minute when freshman
Payton Childers gave the Gray Wolves a 1-0 advantage with help from rookieÂ
Rachel Nelson. The host Warriors were quick to respond, scoring the first allowed goal of the season for Lourdes, knotting the score 1-1.
Two minutes later, sophomore
Kayden Firsdon secured the game-winning goal, her second of the season, with a strike in the near 80th minute. Nelson was there for the help, earning her second assist of the night.Â
Defensively, seniorÂ
Emmy Rodger faced a total of five shots on frame, saving all but one. The veteran holds a 4-0-1 record on the season.Â

- Head Coach Jackie Phillip's (63-79-20) is 4-0-1 to start the season for the first time in program history, her best.Â
- Childers scored her second collegiate goal after netting her first against Holy Cross College, Sept. 7.Â
- Nelson assisted on both goals in tonight's win for her first two career helpers.Â
- Firsdon netted her second season goal, the third of her career after doing so in the win against Holy Cross, Sept. 7.Â
- The win marked the first conference victory of the season.Â
