Box Score SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University women's soccer team continues it's undefeated ride as freshman
Payton Childers netted the game-winning goal in the 1-nil victory over Cleary University to improve Lourdes' Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference record to 2-0 with an overall record of 5-0-1.
Childers, who scored her second consecutive career goal, netted the game-winner after a penalty kick drawn from a foul inside the box in the 26th minute.
The second stanza was a defensive battle with the Gray Wolves in control, ultimately taking a 1-0 home victory over the visiting Cougars.
Defensively, senior
Emmy Rodger faced a total of two shots on frame, saving both for yet another clean-sheet. The veteran holds a 5-0-1 record on the season.
Match Notes:
- Head Coach Jackie Phillip's (64-79-20) is 5-0-1 to start the season for the first time in program history, her best.
- Childers scored her third collegiate goal and the second consecutive after scoring in the 2-1 win over Rochester Christian University, Sept. 18.
- In goal for the sixth time this season was Roger, who turned in her 30th career clean sheet with the 1-nil win.
- The win marked the second conference victory of the season.
