DEFIANCE, Ohio – Lourdes University men's soccer exploded offensively on Wednesday afternoon, scoring six times in a 6-1 road victory at Defiance College at Winsper Knobel Field.
Senior forward
Jack Pelton (Toledo, Ohio) sparked the attack with two first-half goals, scoring in the 27th minute off a pass from
Tyson Woodring (Toledo, Ohio) and adding another just four minutes later, assisted by Felipe Da Silva (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).
The Gray Wolves carried a 2-0 lead into halftime before pulling away after the break.
Asa Karns (Toledo, Ohio) found the back of the net twice, scoring in the 56th minute on an assist from Pelton and again in the 65th off a feed from
Admar Goncalves (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).
Freshman
Abed Taleb (Toledo, Ohio) and
Jon Slay (Toledo, Ohio) each added unassisted goals in the final 20 minutes to cap the scoring, as Lourdes registered four goals in the second half and 33 total shots for the match.
Goalkeeper
Benjamin Godard (Lausanne, Switzerland) earned the victory, making one save while the Gray Wolves' defense limited Defiance to just five shots, including only two on goal.
With the win, Lourdes improved to 9-6 overall and 5-3 in WHAC play, while Defiance fell to 2-12-1 (1-7 WHAC).
Lourdes will return to Wildcat Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 22, hosting Madonna University at 6 p.m. in conference action.
