SYLVANIA, Ohio – Lourdes University volleyball closed its regular season home schedule in dramatic fashion Saturday afternoon, defeating Siena Heights in five sets (26-24, 16-25, 26-24, 20-25, 15-12) inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center .
Senior
Rachel Allison led the way for the Gray Wolves with 17 kills while hitting .286 and adding 11 digs and two blocks. Freshman
Johanna Tester followed closely with 15 kills, hitting .256 on 43 swings, and added two blocks. Sophomore
Aleya Baptiste contributed 13 kills and 10 digs for a double-double, while
Mia Karl added eight kills on a .263 hitting percentage with two blocks.
Setters
Zoe Schuele and
Rania Pavlidi combined for 46 assists, with Schuele handing out 27 while collecting 15 digs and an ace. Senior libero
Emma Coffey anchored the back row with 13 digs, and
Arleena Willer added 17 more, giving Lourdes five players with double-digit digs.
After taking a tight opening set 26-24, Lourdes dropped the next two before rallying late in the fourth behind strong serving from
Hannah Verhaeghe and clutch kills from Allison and Tester. In the decisive fifth set, the Gray Wolves broke an 11-11 tie with a 4-1 closing run, capped by Allison's 17th kill to secure the match.
Lourdes improved to 8-18 overall and 4-16 in WHAC play with the win, while Siena Heights fell to 13-16 (8-12 WHAC).
