SYLVANIA, Ohio – Lourdes women's basketball used timely shooting and defensive stops down the stretch to secure a 61–55 win over Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center, remaining unbeaten on the season.
The Gray Wolves improved to 9–0 overall and 6–0 in WHAC play, holding off a late Aquinas push with a strong fourth-quarter effort. Lourdes outscored the Saints 22–16 in the final period, knocking down key free throws and generating critical stops to seal the victory.
Senior
Oliwia Dyja led Lourdes with 14 points, connecting on three three-pointers and going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
Emma Pedroza added 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while
Kaylona Butler finished with 11 points, four steals, and a late block that helped preserve the lead.
Defensively, Lourdes forced 25 Aquinas turnovers and converted them into 15 points, while senior
Tamyah Worthy recorded six steals to disrupt the Saints' offensive rhythm.
Camryn Ivy and
Ashley Zawisza provided key minutes off the bench as the Gray Wolves controlled the game's tempo down the stretch.
Aquinas (5–6, 3–3 WHAC) was led by Isabel Reemsnyder's 22 points and Paige Guernsey's 17, but the Saints were held to 35 percent shooting for the game.
Lourdes will continue WHAC play next week as the Gray Wolves look to extend their undefeated start.
