Gray Wolves Lose Non-Conference Game to Brescia

Tamyah Worthy swipes season-high six steals

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Lourdes women's basketball (10-3) (6-1 in WHAC) lost 69-86 to Brescia (10-3) (1-0 in RSC) on Tuesday night, completing their Kentucky road trip on a two-game skid.

The Gray Wolves are now 3-3 on the road, compared to their undefeated 7-0 home record at the Ebeid Rec Center. Lourdes is also 1-3 in their last four games after their red hot 9-0 start.

The Bearcats had a slim 44-40 lead after the first half. Senior forward Tamyah Worthy helped keep the Gray Wolves in the game by tallying 13 points and three steals in the first two quarters. The second half leaned more the Bearcats way however, as their defense stifled Lourdes to 29 points which helped them pull away with the 17-point victory.

Junior guard Kaylona Butler led all scorers in the game with 19 points despite fouling out with two and a half minutes left to play. Senior guard Emma Pedroza scored 13 points in addition to having five rebounds and five assists. Butler and Pedroza have each scored double digits in every single game they've played in this season.

Lourdes forced 23 Brescia turnovers in the game off of 14 steals. The defensive tenacity gave the Gray Wolves a -13 turnover advantage. However, Brescia's 61.9% shooting from the field and 64.3% sharpshooting from deep gave the Bearcats a significant advantage offensively.

Coach Bradford's Postgame Comments
"Brescia came out with a good game plan and had a really good night from the three-point line," Coach Bradford said. Coming off of such a high intensity game against Georgetown, I think we lacked a bit of focus and drive to compete on every possession tonight. We knew this was going to be a challenge playing back-to-back games and traveling several hours, but this road trip will make us a better team as we go on to the rest of this season. We know who we are and we are a team that will always play for each other and stick together."

Next Game
Lourdes will take on Lawrence Tech Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at home in the Ebeid Rec Center as part of a men's and women's double header.
