ANN Arbor, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) --Â The Lourdes University men's basketball team closed out their regular season with a 70-60 victory over Concordia University (MI) on the road Thursday evening. With the win, the Gray Wolves secured second place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) standings and will host the winner of the Tuesday play-in game at home on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. in the 2025 WHAC Tournament.
Lourdes entered the game with a slim 41-31 lead at halftime, and despite a strong second-half effort from Concordia, the Gray Wolves maintained their advantage to seal the 10-point victory. The win ensures Lourdes a strong position heading into the postseason as they look to continue their march towards a WHAC Tournament title.
Leading the charge for Lourdes was senior guard Caden Kruse, who came off the bench to score 16 points, including two three-pointers. Prakash Ketterhagen added 11 points, while Derrell Jones contributed 10. Derek Fairley also played a key role, scoring 11 points and helping the Gray Wolves maintain their momentum throughout the game. Kendall Perkins finished with 8 points, while star guard Shaunn Monroe, despite a quiet offensive performance (4 points), provided invaluable leadership.
The Gray Wolves controlled the glass, out-rebounding Concordia 37-31, and shot 70.6% from the free-throw line (12-17), including crucial makes in the closing minutes.
