LIMA,Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) --Â The Lourdes University women's basketball team made history Friday night, advancing to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament championship game for the first time in program history with a 79-74 semifinal victory over the University of Northwestern Ohio at The Garage in Lima.
Macie Stringfellow led the Gray Wolves with a dominant double-double, scoring a game-high 27 points while grabbing 13 rebounds. Emma Pedroza added 17 points, while Grace Ryan and Tamyah Worthy each contributed nine.
Lourdes held a narrow three-point lead after the opening quarter and went into halftime up 40-37. After UNOH surged ahead in the third, the Gray Wolves responded with a decisive 25-point fourth quarter, securing the win at the free-throw line, where they shot 80% for the game.
Lourdes dominated the boards, outrebounding UNOH 48-33, and limited the Racers to just 32.4% shooting from beyond the arc.
The championship game will mark the first for the Lourdes women's basketball program, who has earned a program record 21 games this season.Â

With the victory, Lourdes (21-10) moves on to the WHAC Tournament final, where they will compete for the championship on Monday, March 3 at 6 pm. The No. 6 Gray Wolves will take on the No. 4 Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Mich.Â
