Women's Basketball Historic Postseason Run Comes to an End

Lourdes fell to Top-Seeded Campbellsville, 77-49 in NAIA Tournament Debut

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- No. 16 seed Lourdes University women's basketball saw its season come to a close on Friday evening, as the Gray Wolves fell to No. 1 overall seed Campbellsville 77-49 in the opening round of the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship at Powell Gym in Campbellsville, Ky.

Lourdes (22-11) held its own early, taking a brief lead in the opening minutes before Campbellsville (27-3) responded with a 9-0 run to take control. The Tigers led 22-15 after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 42-28 at halftime. The Gray Wolves struggled offensively in the second half, scoring just eight points in the third quarter, as Campbellsville continued to pull away.

Emma Pedroza led Lourdes with 14 points, while Nadeen Jemaa added 12, knocking down four three-pointers. Macie Stringfellow chipped in seven points, and Grace Ryan grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

The loss ends a historic season for Lourdes, as the Gray Wolves made their first NAIA tournament appearance after winning the program's first-ever WHAC Tournament title. Additionally, two members of the team surpassed the 1,000 career points milestone in the same season for the first time in program history, in both Emma Pedroza and Macie Stringfellow.
