Men's Volleyball Falls to Top-Seeded Lawrence Tech in WHAC Championship Match

The Gray Wolves earn runners-up title in 2025 WHAC Championship Tournament as the no. 3 seed

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's volleyball conference postseason run came to a close on Saturday evening, as the third-seeded Gray Wolves dropped a 25-22, 25-18, 25-19 decision to No. 1 seed Lawrence Tech University in the WolverineHoosier Athletic Conference Tournament Championship match inside the Don Ridler Fieldhouse in Southfield, Mich.

The loss snapped a six-match winning streak for Lourdes (17-10), which had won eight of its previous ten contests heading into the title match. The Gray Wolves were making their first appearance in the WHAC Championship since 2021.

Vinicius Lopes led Lourdes with 11 kills and added five digs and three blocks in the effort. Jaber Badarne posted seven kills, while Felipe Tramontin added five kills off the bench. Joey Bianco handed out 18 assists and recorded an ace, while Mitch Hoffman chipped in two aces and a pair of blocks. Libero Brayden Moyars paced the team with five digs.

The Gray Wolves battled closely in the opening set, staying within striking distance late, but a strong finish by the Blue Devils gave them early momentum. Lourdes was unable to recover after hitting -.100 in the second set and couldn't slow down a high-efficiency Lawrence Tech offense down the stretch.
