Lourdes University men's soccer saw its four-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-1 at Bethel (Ind.) in non-conference action.
The Pilots struck early with goals in the 11th and 18th minutes to build a 2-0 advantage. Lourdes responded in the 27th minute when senior forward
Jannik Hofmann (Bremen, Germany) tallied his seventh goal of the season, finishing a pass from
Jack Pelton (Toledo, Ohio) to cut the deficit in half.
The Gray Wolves held Bethel off the scoreboard for much of the second half before the Pilots extended the margin in the 81st minute through Lucas Lima, securing the 3-1 result.
Goalkeeper
Yianni Kanellopoulos (Toledo, Ohio) made five saves in net, while defenders
Breno Queiroz (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and
Nikola Babic (Toronto, Canada) each registered defensive saves to keep the contest close.
Lourdes now stands at 4-4 on the season, while Bethel improved to 6-1-1.
The Gray Wolves will open WHAC play on Saturday, Sept. 20, traveling to Lawrence Tech for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Southfield, Mich.
