Lourdes University men's soccer earned its fourth consecutive victory on Saturday night, defeating Saint Francis (Ind.) 3-2 at Wildcat Stadium.
The Gray Wolves took control in the first half with two goals in a four-minute span.
Kalis Weber (Sylvania, Ohio) scored in the 30th minute off an assist from Jannis Paris (Strasbourg, France), and
Murilo Lima (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) followed in the 33rd minute to make it 2-0 Lourdes.
Saint Francis pulled one back in the 62nd minute through Christian Walter, but Lourdes answered quickly.
Jannik Hofmann (Bremen, Germany) extended the lead to 3-1 in the 73rd minute, with
Felipe da Silva (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) providing the assist.
The Cougars responded four minutes later with a goal from Ryusei Matsushita to cut the deficit to 3-2, but goalkeeper
Benjamin Godard (Bordeaux, France) and the Lourdes defense held firm. Godard finished with nine saves on 11 shots on goal to secure the win.
Saint Francis held a 19-7 advantage in total shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks, but Lourdes capitalized on its opportunities to stay unbeaten at home.
Lourdes (4-1) begins Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 10, traveling to Upland, Ind., to face Taylor University at 7 p.m.
