HOWELL, Mich. - The Lourdes' men's wrestling team lost a close match against Cleary on Saturday afternoon, 33 to 21, splitting their back-to-back weekend with a win and loss.
The Gray Wolves won half of the matches they wrestled in with senior trio
Tyler Cobb,
Dominico Migliori and
Cole McKinley all earning victories over the Cougars.
Cobb won the 197-pound weight class over Naziah Rice with a fall with roughly a minute left in the round. Cobb won both matches this weekend via fall and earned 12 team points this weekend for Lourdes.
McKinley dominated the 141-pound weight class with a 20 to three tech fall victory over Cleary's Nico Pasienza. The victory was also McKinley's second of the weekend after he won a grueling battle last night against Defiance.
Migliori continued his impressive senior season on Saturday with a 13 to five major decision victory over Rodney Winston. Lourdes' freshman
Collin Sullivan also earned points for the Gray Wolves, wrestling unopposed in the heavyweight division.
Cleary made up for the Lourdes seniors' dominance with wins of their own in the 149, 165 and 174 weight classes. The difference in the match came with an additional three Cleary wins where they were wrestling unopposed.
Quoting Coach Kelly
"While I'm disappointed that we did not win the dual match, I am proud of the way that several of the guys wrestled in a hostile environment," coach Kelly said. "We are going to take a few days off and then we will start our preparation for our final dual match of the season. I am confident that coach Piszker will have our guys ready to compete in a couple of weeks."
Next Dual
The Gray Wolves next dual is at Indiana Tech on Jan. 30 at 5pm. The men's and women's teams will be competing in the competition.
