FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Nine Lourdes women's wrestlers placed in the top-five of their weight class in this weekend's Warrior Open, hosted by Indiana Tech.

Freshman Adelynn England led the way for the Gray Wolves, winning her bracket in the 138-pound weight class. She defeated an Alma wrestler 13 to two and defeated an Adrian wrestler five to two, both of whom compete at the Division-3 NCAA level. 

Four Lourdes wrestlers finished in the bronze position in their respective weight classes: Aaliyah Lee in the 124-pound class, Mackenzie Mercer in one of the 160-pound classes, Madelaine Smith in the 131-pound class, and Payton Curley in the other 160-pound class.

Rounding out the Gray Wolves' top-five finishers include Leann Tran, placing fourth in the 138-pound class, Maria Nutter, placing fifth in the 145-pound class, Marissa Richmond, placing fourth in the 180-pound class, and Napai Holloway, placing fourth in the 207-pound class.

Coach Piszker's Postgame Comments
"I am proud of how our young team responded after a tough opening round," coach Piszker said post open. "When you are competing at a tournament of this caliber, you have to come ready to go from the start. We wrestled much better down the stretch and got back to what we have been working on. I am also super proud of how freshman Marissa Richmond wrestled in the Maximus bracket. She is really starting to figure things out and set herself up for a great run at the conference tournament."
