Lourdes Cheer Wins Siena Heights League Meet

Gray Wolves are off to a great start to the season

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Lourdes competitive cheer team won the Siena Heights hosted league meet on Saturday afternoon, beating out five WHAC competitors.

The Gray Wolves scored an 84.85, their sixth-best score in competitions over the last three seasons. This is the first time since the 2020-2021 season that Lourdes has scored over an 80 in their first two meets to start the year, making this the best start to a season in head coach Kortney Nieckarz's tenure at Lourdes.

The competition win is the cheer team's 9th over the past five seasons and builds upon a historic program run in the 2020's decade. The Gray Wolves defeated second-place Madonna by a whopping 9.3 points in the meet and had a double-digit lead over Siena Heights, Cornerstone, Aquinas and Rochester Christian.

Coach Nieckarz's Postmeet Comments
"Today was about being intentional and purposeful," Coach Nieckarz said. "After last week, we went back to the drawing board with honesty, stayed positive, and committed ourselves to disciplined work toward the goal we're chasing. What we showed today was a reflection of this team's effort and resilience. But this isn't the finish line. We're going back to work this week, focused on the details and the areas where we can continue to grow."

Next Meet
The cheer team's next league meet is next Saturday, Feb. 7 at Madonna for the Crusader Classic.
