Men’s Bowling Finishes Runner-Up in WHAC Tournament

The Lourdes men's bowling team ended their season in second out of eight teams in the WHAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The Gray Wolves made a historic run as the No. 7 seed in the tournament. They first upset No. 2 Lawrence Tech three games to two with winning game scores of 256, 202 and 222.

The second round matchup featured a 3-0 sweep over No. 3 Saint Francis (Ill.). Lourdes won with 191, 236 and 237 to move onto the WHAC Tournament Semifinals.

Lourdes beat eventual champion Aquinas in a grueling three to two five-game set. The Gray Wolves scored over a 200 in four out of five sets, one of their best performances in recent weeks. The victory pushed them to the championship in the double elimination bracket.

Aquinas crushed Rochester Christian and met up against Lourdes in the championship. The Gray Wolves had to beat Aquinas one out of two times to win the WHAC Tournament title. Unfortunately, Aquinas miraculously beat Lourdes 3-0, and then 3-2 to win the title.

The championship loss doesn't take away from anything the Gray Wolves have been able to accomplish this season, however. Lourdes men's bowling has broken many team and individual records this year and finished the tournament five spots ahead of their predicted seed.

The men's team season is over but they will be ready to cheer on the women as they head to sectionals in Pittsburgh in early March.
