Sekinger Wins WHAC Baseball Player of the Week

SYLVANIA, Ohio – Lourdes' sophomore centerfielder Drake Sekinger has won WHAC Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

Sekinger earns the honor after posting one of the best offensive weeks by any player in Lourdes baseball history. The centerfielder came into the week batting .260, a respectable third-best average out of the team's starting lineup. However, after the week concluded, he was batting .360.

Sekinger went 14-for-19 with nine RBI's and five extra base hits on the week. 13 of the week's hits were against Cornerstone. The Golden Eagles are probably very happy they won't have to face Sekinger again in the regular season as he strung together 11 consecutive hits against them between games two, three and four in the series.

The local Clay High School graduate is now leading the team in RBI's with 20. He is tied with Alex Dupree for the team-lead in extra-base hits with nine. He's second on the team with 32 hits, third on the team with a .472 slugging percentage, and fourth on the team with a .418 on-base percentage.

Sekinger and the Lourdes baseball team take on Spring Arbor tomorrow at home at 4pm.
