The match kicked off with the team's five seniors being recognized before the game and more alumni were recognized with volleyballs presenting their program career records afterwards.
Lourdes won the first two sets in close fashion and were up 7-0 to start the third set. However, a timeout by Lawrence Tech's head coach, former Lourdes alum, Gustavo Heidrich, calmed the Blue Devils down and helped them quickly capture the lead and eventually the 26-24 set.
The energy from the crowd however was enough to swing the momentum in the Gray Wolves' favor to overcome the late third set surge against the Blue Devils.
Jaber Badarne ended the fourth set and the match with a thunderous kill, passing Eduardo Ayala for the third most career kills in Lourdes men's volleyball history. Badarne contributed 21 kills in the Lawrence Tech match and spoke postgame on his record and the team's success this season.
"It feels amazing to get the win with the guys in front of all the alumni," Badarne said. It's just a great feeling and I'm looking forward to the tournament next week."
