Baseball Drops Final Doubleheader to Siena Heights

The Gray Wolves end the season in 10th in the WHAC

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Lourdes baseball team (14-31, 8-20) lost both games to Siena Heights (15-32, 11-17 in WHAC) on Saturday afternoon to cap off their 2026 season.

Lourdes needed to win both games to make the conference tournament. With the Saints winning both, they leapfrogged Cornerstone and Lawrence Tech to end up as the No. 7-seed in the postseason. Lawrence Tech finished in eighth and Cornerstone dropped out of the top-8 for the first time in a few weeks.

Northwestern Ohio won the WHAC regular season title, finishing a game ahead of Indiana Tech. Despite an amazing start to the year, Madonna finished the season in the third in the league.

Rounding out to the conference tournament qualifiers was Cleary in fourth, Aquinas in fifth, and RCU in sixth. Lourdes finished a game back from Cornerstone in 10th place. Defiance and Michigan-Dearborn finished in 11th and last.

Game 1: L, 4-8
Saturday's opener brought postseason implications and the external storyline of both schools shutting down at the end of the spring semester. WTOL 11 was at the game and the excitement was palpable in the road environment.

Freshman J.J Foti got the start and gave up five runs on seven hits in the first four innings. The St. John's Jesuit graduate walked five batters, which cut his outing short.

Lourdes junior first baseman Alex Dupree did his best to combat the five-run deficit with two RBI's and a triple to cut the lead to three.

Andrew Arnston and Brad Hughes each hit RBI's in the sixth inning to further the momentum to Lourdes. The Gray Wolves were down just 4-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Lourdes' reliever Adam Lemon threw a scoreless fifth inning but gave up two runs in the sixth as Siena Heights took a four-run lead into the last inning.

The Gray Wolves went three-up, three-down in the seventh as Siena Heights emerged victorious.

Game 2: L, 4-9
With their postseason hopes over, Lourdes pitched by committee in game two against the Saints. 10 Gray Wolves combined to pitch in the game, giving varying performances that resulted in a 0-7 deficit after the first six innings.

Almost the entire Lourdes bench came in to hit in the game as well with nine substitutions taking place. One of these subs was Zane Mullins. The outfielder/relief pitcher had just one hit all season, but got two knocks in the later innings of game two, including an RBI-single.

Andrew Arnston and Will Brose each collected RBI's to make the score 3-9. A wild pitch accounted for the fourth run, but Lourdes couldn't erase the entire lead for a comeback.
