Garrett Jex joined the Lourdes University baseball staff as a graduate assistant in the fall of 2018, returning to his alma mater after playing for the Gray Wolves from 2012 through 2016.  He was promoted to a full-time assistant coach in the summer of 2020.

As a member of the coaching staff, Jex helped Lourdes produce three Second Team All Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference selections as well as a NAIA and WHAC Gold Glove Team member.  The Gray Wolves have also produced a CoSIDA Academic All-American Section Team honoree while he has been in the dugout, along with a pair of CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team selections.

Jex spent the 2018 season as a graduate assistant at Chatham University after serving as the head coach of the Sylvania Lobos in the Tri-State Collegiate League during the summer of 2017.

A member of the Gray Wolves’ inaugural season in 2012, Jex appeared in 172 for Lourdes over his five seasons.  As a senior, he earned Honorable Mention All-WHAC honors, and was also named to the WHAC Gold Glove Team in 2016.  Jex was a two-time member of the WHAC All-Academic Team as well. 

Jex is a 2016 graduate of Lourdes with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology.  He earned his Master’s of Business Administration at the school in 2020.
