Rudy Evans joined the Lourdes University men’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant prior to the 2016-2017 season.
In his first two seasons with the Gray Wolves, he helped Lourdes produce a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team selection and a WHAC Player of the Week. In addition, three Lourdes players have earned WHAC All-Academic Team selections and one was named a NAIA Scholar-Athlete.
Evans arrived at Lourdes from Berea College, where he was an assistant coach with the men’s team, where he helped the squad post a 53-30 record over three seasons. He helped the Mountaineers earn back-to-back trips to the USCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament. Prior to serving on the men’s staff, Evans also spent two years as an assistant coach for Berea’s women’s team.
A player at Berea during his collegiate days, Evans averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game as a senior, earning First Team All-Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors. He tallied 17.0 points per game as a junior for the Mountaineers, and holds the school record for most points in a two-year career with 943.
Prior to Berea, Evans played at Cuyahoga Community College for two seasons, scoring 1,043 points.
A 2012 graduate of Berea with a degree in education studies, Evans earned his Master’s in Organizational Leadership degree from Lourdes in 2018.
