The Lourdes University men's volleyball team was on the road in Dubuque, IA Friday night as they were taking on Clarke University in a doubleheader featuring two Eastern Division MAMVIC teams. Lourdes would suffer a doubleheader defeat losing game one in three sets and game two in four sets.
The Gray Wolves would lose the first game in three straight sets on Clarke's home court 22-25, 20-25 and 22-25. The Gray Wolves were out manned at the net getting only three team blocks compared to ten for the Crusaders. The Gray Wolves did finish the first game with 37 kills compared to 30 for Clarke. Errors would plague the Gray Wolves with 23 to the Crusaders 12.
The Second game of the doubleheader would start out slow for the Gray Wolves as they were dominated in the first set losing 14-25 before bouncing back to win the next set 25-18. The third set would belong to the Crusaders 21-25. The fourth set would prove to be the final set for the Gray Wolves as they would lose the set 19-25 to lose game two three sets to one.
The Gray Wolves would play tough at the net with 46 kills in the four sets to the Crusaders 43. The attack percentage would favor the Crusaders heavily at .280 to .182. Lourdes would commit to many errors in the attacking mode with 28 to 17.
The Gray Wolves move to 4-7 overall and 4-6 in the MAMVIC. Next up for the Gray Wolves is Robert Morris University on Saturday at noon.
