Lourdes Volleyball Bounces Back with Road Win at Erskine

Lourdes men's volleyball team bounced back from a disappointing Monday evening loss to defeat NCAA Division II Erskine 14-25, 25-21, 25-17, 27-25 on Tuesday evening at Belk Arena in Due West, S.C. as the Gray Wolves continued their spring trip.
 
“We did a good job of making some adjustments and lineup changes after that first set tonight,” head coach Greg Reitz stated.  “The players were able to rely on their teammates and get the win in front of a rowdy crowd.”
 
The Gray Wolves struggled in the opening set, hitting just .190 as a team while the Fleet tallied 10 kills against just one error for a .562 hitting percentage.  Lourdes bounced back over the next two sets, holding Erskine to .065 and -.033 hitting while taking a 2-1 lead in the match.  The Gray Wolves then pulled out a tight fourth set to claim the victory.
 
Nick DiMarco (Torrance, Calif./South Torrance H.S.) led Lourdes with 15 kills and three service aces while Trevor Lund (Laguna Hills, Calif./Laguna Hills H.S.) tallied nine more kills.  Steve Barcus (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon H.S.) handed out 28 assists over the final three sets while Brad Miller (Convoy, Ohio/Crestview H.S.) tallied a team-high 10 digs.
 
“Barcus did a great job setting coming in off of the bench,” Reitz added.  “We also started serving better over the last couple of sets.”
 
For the match Lourdes hit .200 as a team while Erskine finished at a .186 clip.  The Gray Wolves also outdug the Fleet 37-35.
 
Mike Kawa led Erskine (8-9) with 19 kills and hit .455 while Mike Michelau added 13 kills and four blocks.
 
Lourdes (10-9) will close out the trip on Wednesday evening, traveling to Gaffney, S.C. to face Limestone.  First serve is set for 5 p.m.
