Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes begins the home portion of the 2014 men's volleyball campaign this week with three contests, beginning a four-match homestand at Tam-o-Shanter. The Gray Wolves will entertain Siena Heights on Wednesday evening before hosting Robert Morris (Ill.) on Friday night. On Saturday evening, Cardinal Stritch will visit Sylvania for the third straight Great Lakes Conference contest of the week.
Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his third season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball,
Greg Reitz has a 34-22 (.607) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. He was named to the MAMVIC East Coach of the Year in 2012. Reitz is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 6-0 all-time against Siena Heights, including a 3-0 mark at Tam-o-Shanter. The Gray Wolves downed the Saints three times last year, by scores of 3-2 and 3-0 at home while winning 3-1 in Adrian, Mich. Lourdes is 4-0 all-time against Robert Morris (Ill.), having posted a 2-0 record at Tam-o-Shanter. Last year the Gray Wolves swept the Eagles in both matches. Cardinal Stritch is 4-0 all-time against Lourdes, having won all three previous meetings at Tam-o-Shanter. The Wolves downed the Gray Wolves 3-1 in Sylvania last season before notching a five-set victory in Milwaukee, Wis.
Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves were idle last week, but posted a 3-1 record two weekends ago to open the season. Lourdes posted a straight sets victory at first year program Cincinnati Christian to open Great Lakes Conference play on Jan. 17. Lourdes then headed to the Mount Saint Joseph tournament on Jan. 18-19, where the Gray Wolves fell in their first match 3-1 to #9 Missouri Valley. The Gray Wolves concluded play with a sweep of Rust and a 3-1 victory over host Mount Saint Joseph.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints opened the season with a 3-0 home loss to Lakeland before bouncing back last Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Cincinnati Christian. Gilius Blinstrubas leads Siena Heights with 18 kills and five aces through two matches while Lance Blough is hitting .357. Zak Krug has handed out 31 assists and Allanderson Meira has tallied 12 digs. As a team the Saints have recorded just six blocks and are hitting .086 as a team.
Scouting Robert Morris (Ill.): The Eagles enter the week 2-3 overall after splitting a pair of matches at Saint Ambrose last Saturday. Robert Morris fell in three sets to #6 Saint Ambrose before defeating Culver-Stockton in four sets. Taylor Magorian leads the team with 20 kills and is hitting .366 on the season while also registering a team-best nine blocks. Danny Orozco has handed out 68 assists and Stephen Hewitt has tallied a team-high 16 digs. As a team the Eagles are hitting .143. Robert Morris travels to Cardinal Stritch on Wednesday before facing Lourdes on Friday.
Scouting Cardinal Stritch: The Wolves enter the week having dropped five straight matches, but all five have come to teams ranked in the top nine in the nation. Last Saturday Cardinal Stritch lost in five sets to #9 Missouri Valley and #7 Warner before being swept by #2 Grand View. Jimmy Orromeo leads the Wolves with 65 kills while Noah Mader is hitting a team-best .407. Collin Hartman has handed out 202 assists while Patrick Ronan has notched 57 digs. Brian Hoffman leads the team with 28 blocks. The Wolves host Robert Morris (Ill.) on Wednesday and head to Siena Heights on Friday before playing Lourdes.
Lourdes in Home Openers: The Gray Wolves are 1-1 all-time in their home openers. Lourdes lost its inaugural match of the 2012 season 3-0 to #1 Saint Ambrose at Tam-o-Shanter, but swept Robert Morris (Ill.) in three sets at home to begin the 2013 campaign. Lourdes enters year three of men's volleyball with a 6-6 all-time record at Tam-o-Shanter.
Miller Named Libero of the Week: Junior
Brad Miller was named the NAIA Men's Volleyball Libero of the Week on Jan. 20 after helping Lourdes to the 3-1 record on opening weekend. He tallied 50 digs, an average of 3.57 per set, while committing just two reception errors in the four matches. He also handed out five assists.
Facing Ranked Opponents: Cardinal Stritch enters the match ranked 9th in the country and will mark the 23rd match all-time in which Lourdes has faced a ranked opponent. The Gray Wolves are 3-19 all-time against ranked foes, last defeating #8 Graceland 3-0 on March 3, 2012. Lourdes is 0-1 this season, having fallen 3-1 to #9 Missouri Valley on Jan. 18.
Serving Up Aces: Lourdes tallied 31 total aces in the first four matches of the season, an average of 2.21 per set. The Gray Wolves had 14 aces in the sweep of Rust on Jan. 19.
Chris Lockwood and
Garrett Jones lead the way for Lourdes with six service aces each this year.
Captains Named: Lourdes has announced tri-captains for the 2014 season. Serving in that role are juniors

This and That: Chris Lockwood is hitting .453 with a team-leading 36 kills after the opening weekend ... Lockwood also has 11 blocks while
