Lourdes University's women's basketball team has started the season 2-0 for the first time in program history after posting an 84-74 victory over Wilberforce on Saturday afternoon at the Health and Fitness Center in Wilberforce, Ohio.
"This was a good team effort," head coach
Karen McConnell said after the win. "We had to work hard against a much more athletic team."
Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) led all scorers with 24 points, including three three-pointers.Â
Emily Orsini (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban H.S.) added 22 points while taking four charges defensively.Â
Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) and
Molea Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison H.S.) each chipped in 10 points as four Gray Wolves finished in double figures.Â
Katie Pearcy (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid H.S.) just missed double figures with nine points.

Katie Pearcy did a great job coming off of the bench as well."
Lourdes held a 36-34 lead at the half. Brittani Thomas led Wilberforce (0-2) with 19 points.
Lourdes (2-0) will return to the hardwood on Monday evening as the Gray Wolves face Cincinnati Christian. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Presidents Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio.
