Lourdes scored 32 of the game's first 34 points on Wednesday evening on the way to a 96-38 rout of Akron Wayne at the Merillat Center on the campus of Adrian College in Adrian, Mich.

Aaron Ashley (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights H.S.) scored 31 points, making six three-pointers, while
Jake DuPree (Toledo, Ohio/Whiteford H.S.) had a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists. DuPree was 5-for-5 from the floor and also had six steals and five rebounds in the contest.

E.J. Blackwell (Rochester, Pa./Rochester H.S.) added 20 points while
Zach Steinmetz (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) added 16 points.Â
Noah Guthrie (Glouster, Ohio/Trimble H.S.) and
Julian Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Horizon H.S.) added eight points each, with Guthrie also pulling down eight rebounds.

Lourdes shot 56.5% from the floor for the game while forcing 35 Akron Wayne turnovers, 26 via steals. The Gray Wolves turned the turnovers into 48 points while outscoring the Warriors 60-14 in the paint.

"This was a team effort," head coach
Andre Smith said afterwards. "We shot the ball well, didn't turn the ball over ourselves, and had a solid defensive effort."

Leading 5-2 at the 17:30 mark of the first half, Lourdes scored the next 27 points, holding Akron Wayne scoreless for eight-and-a-half minutes to build the 30-point lead. The Gray Wolves made nine of their first 11 shots from the floor while the Warriors made just one of their first 14 attempts from the floor.

Akron Wayne went on a 13-2 run late in the first half to close to within 20 before the Gray Wolves took a 52-25 lead into the locker room.

Lourdes scored the first nine points of the second half to push the lead to 36, and went on a 19-0 spurt, holding the Warriors scoreless for nearly seven minutes, midway through the half to increase the advantage to 51. The Gray Wolves finished the game scoring the game's final nine points, holding Akron Wayne scoreless for the final 6:28.

James Hunter led Akron Wayne (0-10) with 12 points as the Warriors shot just 33.3% from the floor and failed to make a free throw in four attempts in the contest.

Lourdes (8-3) will return to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon, taking on Madonna in Livonia, Mich. Tip-off at The Activities Center is set for 3 p.m.
