Zach Steinmetz's (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) basket with 30 seconds remaining gave Lourdes the lead and propelled the Gray Wolves to a 63-61 win over Madonna at the Activities Center in Livonia, Mich.
 
The Gray Wolves led 35-30 at the break and maintained the lead for the first seven minutes of the second half before a pair of free throws put the Crusaders on top.  The 7-0 run by Madonna pushed the lead to 47-43before Lourdes answered with five straight points to retake the edge with just under 10 minutes remaining.
 
Madonna rebuilt a five-point lead with less than six minutes left and led by three heading into the final minute and a half.  E.J. Blackwell (Rochester, Pa./Rochester H.S.) scored underneath to cut the deficit to one at the 1:21 mark.  After Lourdes forced a miss, Steinmetz hit his jumper with 30 seconds left to put the Gray Wolves on top.  The Gray Wolves forced another miss and Brillon Pritchett (Gary, Ind./McAdams [Miss.] H.S.) split two free throws with 17 seconds remaining to increase the lead to two.
 
Lourdes saw yet another Madonna attempt miss the mark with nine seconds remaining, only to have the Crusaders get the offensive rebound.  The Gray Wolves forced a turnover as time expired though to escape with the victory.
 
The first half was tight throughout with Madonna leading by four early before Lourdes took the lead at the 5:13 mark on a jumper by Blackwell.  That was part of a 10-0 run, capped by a three from Aaron Ashley (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights H.S.) that put the Gray Wolves in front 30-22.
 
Steinmetz led Lourdes with 24 points and nine rebounds while Ashley added 18 points.  Pritchett came off of the bench to chip in 10 more for the Gray Wolves.  Lourdes shot 61.9% from the floor in the opening half before connecting at just a 33.3% clip over the final 20 minutes.
 
Khalil Moore led Madonna (4-8, 2-5 WHAC) with 18 points as the only Crusader to finish in double figures. 
 
Lourdes (9-3, 5-2) will have eight days off before the Gray Wolves head to the Saint Xavier Midwest Tournament beginning on Dec. 21.  Lourdes will face Cincinnati Christian in the opening round in a 7 p.m. EST start at the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill.
