Lourdes was held to just 27.3% shooting on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves fell 79-48 to Spring Arbor in the team's final game before Christmas at the SAU Fieldhouse in Spring Arbor, Mich.

"We knew going into the game that Spring Arbor was a scrappy team," head coach
Karen McConnell said. "But at the same time, we missed a lot of bunnies as well as free throws, and then didn't get back on defense."

The Gray Wolves made just 4-of-28 (14.3%) field goal attempts over the opening 20 minutes. Spring Arbor scored the game's first seven points and added another 11-0 run in the first half. The Cougars then ended the stanza scoring the eight points on the way to a 43-14 lead at halftime.

The Cougars extended the lead to 31 early in the second half before an 11-0 Lourdes run over six minutes closed the gap to 20, 49-29, with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game. The Gray Wolves would not get any closer than 19 the rest of the way though, and were held scoreless for the final 3:01 as Spring Arbor finished the game on a 9-0 run.

Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) led Lourdes with 13 points while
Molea Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison H.S.) added 12 points, three assists, and four steals.Â
Jessica Durr (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton H.S.) pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds for the Gray Wolves.

Lindsey Burnside led Spring Arbor (5-9) with 17 points and 19 rebounds as the Cougars outboarded the Gray Wolves 46-41 for the afternoon. Jessica Mabry added 11 points and 14 assists for a double-double as well. Spring Arbor had four players finish in double figures while the Cougars shot 50.8% from the floor on the day.

Lourdes (5-9) will return to the court next Saturday afternoon as part of the Smokey Ballenger Classic. The Gray Wolves will face Washington and Jefferson in a 5 p.m. contest at the Rike Center on the Campus of Otterbein in Westerville, Ohio.
