Photo GalleryLourdes had four players finish in double figures on Wednesday night, but could not hold a 10-point halftime lead, falling to Aquinas 69-67 at Tam-o-Shanter.

"We need to learn how to put teams away," head coach
Karen McConnell said after the game. "We had too many turnovers and mental lapses."
Â
Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) scored 20 points while
Jessica Durr (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton H.S.) added 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, but the Gray Wolves allowed the Saints to shoot 56% from the floor in the second half and committed 25 turnovers on the night.
Â
Lourdes built a 22-10 lead over the first 10 minutes of the contest before Aquinas answered with an 11-1 run to close to within two at the 5:31 mark of the first half. Nine straight Gray Wolf points pushed the lead to double figures, and following a Tilden triple with 43 seconds left before the break Lourdes had its largest lead of the night at 39-25.
Â
Aquinas took advantage of back-to-back Gray Wolf turnovers in the final 10 seconds of the half to close the gap to 10, 39-29, at the break. The Saints continued their run out of the locker room, cutting the deficit to five over the first three-and-a-half minutes of the second half. A 7-0 run allowed Aquinas to tie the game at 47 with 13:41 to play.Â
Â
The game was tied four more times over the next seven minutes, but each time Lourdes answered to retake the lead. A three-pointer with 6:12 to play put Aquinas on top for the first time and the Saints maintained a slim lead until Tilden's three-pointer at the 3:33 mark made it 66-64 Gray Wolves.
Â
Neither team would not score from the field the rest of the way though, but the Saints made five free throws down the stretch after taking the lead for good with a pair from the line at the 1:14 mark.Â
Â
Emily Orsini (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban H.S.) added 12 points while
Molea Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison H.S.) chipped in 10 more.
Â
Allison Heberlein and Chelsea Matley paced Aquinas (4-7, 3-2 WHAC) with 20 points each while Kelsey Spitzley added 14 more.
Â
"Moral victories are not enough," McConnell added. "We have learned how to compete; now we need to learn how to win."
Â
Lourdes (5-5, 1-4) will take to the road on Saturday as the Gray Wolves travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. to face Indiana Tech. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at the Schaefer Center Gymnasium.
