Quincy Ends Lourdes Win Streak

Lourdes University wrapped up its five-match in six days spring trip on Wednesday evening, dropping a 25-17, 25-20, 28-26 match to Quincy at Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Ill.
 
An early 9-3 run by the Hawks in the opening set allowed the hosts to build a 14-6 advantage, one they would not relinquish.  Quincy hit .364 in the opening stanza while limiting the Gray Wolves to a .129 clip.
 
The Gray Wolves led set two 16-15 before Quincy scored five straight points to seize control.  The Hawks tallied 14 kills in the set while hitting .440.
 
Lourdes limited the Hawks to a .051 hitting mark in set three, only to hit .050 offensively as a team as Quincy closed out the match.  The Gray Wolves scored the first five points of the set and still led late, 22-21, before the Hawks rallied.  The set eventually extended into extra points before Quincy pulled out the victory.
 
Jo'Lon Clark (Compton, Calif./Long Beach Poly H.S.) led the way for Lourdes offensively, hitting .303 with 13 kills.  Ryan Ferkel (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly H.S.) handed out 28 assists while defensively Keanu Jacinto (Encinitas, Calif./La Costa Canyon H.S.) tallied seven digs.  Frank Craig (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood H.S.) had five blocks for the Gray Wolves.
 
John Pranger and Ian Lawson paced Quincy (8-11) with eight kills each while Brian Peth had nine digs.
 
Lourdes (13-5) will return to Great Lakes Conference play next Wednesday, March 19, as the Gray Wolves travel to Adrian, Mich. to face Siena Heights.  First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the SHU Fieldhouse.
