Jake DuPree (Toledo, Ohio/Whiteford H.S.) accounted for more than 63% of Lourdes offense on Wednesday evening, scoring a career high 26 points, but the Gray Wolves suffered a 79-41 setback to fifth-ranked Davenport at the DU Student Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.
DuPree finished the night 10-of-15 from the floor, including 4-for-7 from three-point range in 34 minutes of action. He surpassed his previous career high of 23 points set last season against Point Park.
Davenport started the game quick as 15 straight points gave the Panthers an early 17-2 lead just six minutes into the game. Another 9-0 run by the hosts later in the half pushed the lead to 22, 32-10, and eventually Davenport took a 46-18 lead into the locker room.
Lourdes was never able to cut the deficit under 26 in the second half, and a 10-2 run gave the Panthers a 40-point lead with 7:20 to play in the game.
Davenport shot 52.9% from the floor, including 10-of-22 (45.5%) from three-point range and forced 15 Lourdes turnovers.
The Gray Wolves shot 26.4% from the field, but the team other than DuPree connected on just 4-of-38 shots.
Kevin Rich led Davenport (16-3, 10-1 WHAC) with 18 points while Dominez Burnett added 10 more.
Lourdes (10-9, 6-5) will begin the second half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves entertain Siena Heights. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at Tam-o-Shanter.
