"I told our team after the game that we have to play as a team," head coach
Karen McConnell said afterwards. "We need to communicate and make adjustments as the game goes along. We aren't doing that."

Lourdes trailed 10-7 five minutes into the game before being held without a field goal for the next seven minutes as Madonna went on a 17-1 run to build a 19-point lead which proved to be the difference in the game. The Crusaders maintained the advantage throughout the rest of the half, taking a 39-22 lead into the locker room.

The Crusaders held Lourdes to just 31.8% shooting in the opening frame while forcing seven turnovers which led to 13 points.

The two schools played nearly even throughout the second half. Lourdes was never able to get any closer than 13, 58-45, while Madonna never built a lead larger than 22 the entire way.

Madonna finished the game shooting 55.8% from the floor and forced 17 Gray Wolf turnovers, leading to 23 points for the game.Â

Jesse Filder (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) led Lourdes with 13 points while grabbing four offensive rebounds.Â
Jessica Durr (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton H.S.) added 11 points while
Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) chipped in eight points and had six steals.Â
Emily Orsini (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban H.S.) also scored eight points for the Gray Wolves.

Michele Hayes and Rachel Melcher paced Madonna (12-6, 11-1 WHAC) with 17 points each with Hayes also handing out seven assists.

Lourdes (6-14, 2-10) will take to the road on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Aquinas. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center.
