Aquinas limited Lourdes to just 27.3% shooting on the evening Wednesday night in defeating the Gray Wolves 56-48 at the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Lourdes kept the game close by making nine three-point field goals, and had 18 offensive rebounds but managed just 10 second chance points from the opportunities.

With the game tied at 12, the Saints went on a 7-1 run to build a six-point advantage. Lourdes responded with eight of the next 10 points, tying the game at 21 on a three-pointer by
Niki Meyer (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center H.S.) with 8:47 left in the half. The Gray Wolves would be held scoreless for the next eight minutes as Aquinas scored nine straight points before a
Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) triple pulled Lourdes to within six, 30-24, at the break.

Aquinas came out of the locker room and scored the first eight points as Lourdes was held scoreless for the first four minutes of the stanza. The Saints extended the lead to as many as 17, 53-36, with 7:41 remaining before the Gray Wolves limited the hosts to just three points the rest of the way. Lourdes tried to battle back, but was unable to pull any closer than eight down the stretch.

Tilden led Lourdes with 15 points, all on three-pointers, while Meyer added 14 as the freshman tallied a career high.Â
Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds for the Gray Wolves, eight of which came on the offensive end of the floor.

Allison Heberlein led Aquinas (7-14, 6-7 WHAC) with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Katie Theut added 13 points. Chelsea Matley tallied 10 points while Brooklynne Lane pulled down 11 rebounds.

The Saints shot 41.1% from the floor but committed 18 turnovers on the night. Aquinas forced 19 miscues from the Gray Wolves, 13 via steals.

Lourdes (6-15, 2-11) will return home to Tam-o-Shanter on Saturday afternoon to begin a three-game homestand. The Gray Wolves will tip off against Indiana Tech at 1 p.m.
