Lourdes could not hold on to its halftime lead on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves fell on the road to Aquinas 57-50 at the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.
 
Zach Steinmetz (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) was the lone Gray Wolf to tally double figures on the evening, tallying 20 points to lead all scorers.
 
Aquinas jumped out to the early lead, 16-10, seven minutes into the contest.  Lourdes answered with the next eight points to take the lead on a Steinmetz three-pointer with 9:50 to play in the half.  The Gray Wolves would not relinquish the lead the rest of the stanza, but never led by more than four, taking a 25-23 lead into the locker room.
 
Lourdes extended the lead to seven, 30-23, four minutes out of the intermission before Aquinas rallied.  The Saints tied the game at 32 with 11:44 to play before the Gray Wolves retook the lead with under 10 minutes remaining.  Six straight points by Aquinas put the hosts on top for the first time in the second half.
 
The game remained tight with Lourdes tying the contest at 45 with under four minutes to play.  The Saints tallied the next six points in a span of just over a minute to take the lead for good as the Gray Wolves were unable to get any closer than three the rest of the way.
 
Lourdes shot 47.8% from the floor but committed 13 turnovers which led to 16 Aquinas points.  The Saints connected at just a 38.5% clip from the field, but limited the miscues to just seven and made 11-of-15 from the free throw line.  The Gray Wolves meanwhile were just 3-of-9 from the charity stripe.
 
Anthony Williams led Aquinas (13-8, 9-4 WHAC) with 14 points.
 
Lourdes (11-10, 7-6) will return home to begin a three-game homestand on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves entertain Indiana Tech.  Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at Tam-o-Shanter.
