Indiana Tech took its first lead of the afternoon with under three minutes to play on Saturday afternoon, and closed the game with a 17-2 run to defeat Lourdes 61-52 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play at Tam-o-Shanter.
 
Lourdes jumped out quickly, taking a 12-2 lead less than five minutes into the contest.  The lead grew to 15, 21-6, as the Gray Wolves connected on seven of their first 10 shots from the floor while forcing the Warriors to just 2-of-10 shooting and eight turnovers in the first eight minutes of the contest.
 
"I thought this was the hardest we have come out to play and the most fight we have shown in a long time," head coach Karen McConnell stated after the game.
 
Lourdes largest lead of the day came at the 10:51 mark of the first half following a Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) lay-in before the Gray Wolves went cold from the floor.  Indiana Tech would hold the hosts scoreless for the next six minutes while scoring 14 unanswered points to close to within two.  Lourdes would not let the Warriors take the lead in the opening half though, carrying a 31-28 advantage into the locker room.
 
The Gray Wolves scored the first seven points of the second half to extend the lead back to double figures, and held a 41-30 advantage with 13:52 to play.  Eight straight points by Indiana Tech closed the gap back to three and the Warriors were within one, 43-42, with 8:17 left.
 
Again Lourdes extended its lead, pushing the advantage to six, 50-44, with four minutes left following a layup by Molea Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison H.S.).  Lourdes would not score another field goal the rest of the game though, managing just two free throws in the final minute.
 
Indiana Tech scored 11 straight points, tying the game on a pair of free throws by Shallante Clements at the 2:56 mark.  Taylor Carver put the Warriors on top on possession later with a jumper and Taylor Seiss followed with a three-pointer to extend the lead to five.  Indiana Tech closed out the game making 6-of-8 free throws in the final 40 seconds.
 
Fidler led the Gray Wolves with 11 points while Jessica Durr (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton H.S.) tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Emily Orsini (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban H.S.) added 10 points as well, eight of which came in the first half.
 
Lourdes shot just 23.8% from the floor in the second half and committed 24 turnovers for the game.  Both teams shot 32% from the field for the contest.
 
Linsey Masnari and Clements led Indiana Tech (11-12, 10-5 WHAC) with 13 points each while both grabbed nine rebounds as well.
 
"Masnari manhandled us inside tonight," McConnell said.
 
Lourdes (6-16, 2-12) will continue its three-game homestand on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Cornerstone.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Tam-o-Shanter.
